Don't drop that baby!

Today was full of babies! We started out rounding in the maternity ward. The woman with the twins is doing great and will be going home tomorrow. Her incision that I stitched looks quite lovely, if I do say so myself. With a scar like that she'll be ready for a bikini in no time! I was looking for the twins when we went to see her and finally had to ask where they were. She pointed to a heap of blankets, and swaddled sweetly under many blankets were the little cuties! (pic below) I'm glad mom and babies are doing well.
Next we had a C-Section, which I again got to assist with! This was a first time c section and there was just one baby, so I felt a little more at ease! After the baby is out, we hand off the baby to the midwife. They come up with a sterile blanket, and since I am trying to keep myself sterile too, i kinda of have to drop the baby into the blanket so I don't touch anything. Well, the baby falls right through the midwife's arms and I have to dive to catch her! Rule number 1 of OBGYN is DON'T DROP THE BABY! Easier said than done though, those kiddos are slippery. The doctor just laughed and told the midwife she better eat her wheaties next time. Yikes!
Tomorrow we have a ton of surgeries planned, I am looking forward to it!

    1. Sadly I think probably not. I was hoping to get a head start on good surgical technique, but sadly, I think the mentality is more, cut it out and get outta there..i don't think I'd want to have surgery here!

  2. Great blog, my niece Alicia (John Bryner's sister) told me about it. You might consider a twitter feed or linking to facebook so more can enjoy if you are not doing already.
